West Car Tour
The Route
The total distance for the shortest route is 157 miles, all of
it on good dual track roads except for a four mile stretch of
single track, with passing places.
The longer route, marked on the map, adds a further 52 miles many
of which are on single track roads.
The route is marked in blue on the map below. Together with
some clickable markers, green for natural features, blue for man
made features and red for places you might like to eat or take
refreshment.
At higher zoom levels you will see that the blue line does not
follow the roads exactly - it is an indicator only.
The best way to use the map is to drag the starting point to the centre of the map, zoom in until you can see some detail and then drag your way along the route, clicking markers if you wish.
As mentioned before, this route is principally a scenic one. You cannot hope to visit all the points of interest in a single day and do them justice. There are links to some of the attractions which will help you make up your mind where to linger and what to pass by.
You are recommended to use the Terrain mode when browsing the map. This gives a better idea of the type of country you will be travelling through.
